Comment: This is arguably an example of some of the more mundane cases that the Special branch of the SMPA were forced to deal with during the Japanese occupation as a result of the immigration during the war. It also demonstrates that the issues with migration that the SMPA were forced to deal with were not contained to Shanghai or ended when the migrants arrived and were in Shanghai. (Angus Waugh)
